Employment Opportunities

Accountant

The accountant is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer with completing all accounting functions to include financial statements, operational audits, reconciling and balancing general ledger accounts, and preparing journal entries.

Development Officer

The Development Officer is responsible for growing and strengthening the philanthropic efforts of the Garden by implementing and growing the Development Department’s robust annual fundraising and stewardship programs with new and existing donors with the capacity to contribute between $250 and $4,999 annually.

Education Assistant - Part-time

The Education Assistant will offer educational programs and experiences that communicate the importance of plants and nature.

Event Facilitator - Part-time

The Event Facilitator provides operational functions before, during, and after events and assists with site set-up and take-down of Garden owned tables, chairs, pop up tents, lighting, etc.

Gardener

The Gardener is responsible for the planting and maintenance of the San Antonio Botanical Garden, as well as assisting with plant propagation and nursery management.

Guest Experience Associate

The Guest Experience Associate is responsible for making an exceptional first and last impression on guests and provides excellent customer service in a professional, friendly, and positive manner.

Irrigation Specialist

The Irrigation Specialist installs, maintains, operates, repairs, and troubleshoots underground irrigation systems as well as completes irrigation audits. The Specialist will also conduct inventory of tools, equipment, or materials related to ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable condition. This position will be responsible for the entire Garden in both public and non-public areas to meet or exceed the Garden’s standards for horticulture excellence.

Volunteer Specialist

The Volunteer Specialist is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Volunteer Program. The Volunteer Specialist uses best practices in recruitment, retention, training, and appreciation. They also use best practices in providing training for volunteers interested in facilitating meaningful, relevant, and inclusive educational experiences.

Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering at the Botanical Garden? No experience is needed—just a love of the Botanical Garden and a desire to support its mission. The minimum age to volunteer at the Botanical Garden is 12 and volunteers younger than 15 years must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers working with children or handling money must consent to a background check. Learn more about becoming a volunteer.
